Manufacturing Engineer 1 - Plans utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations by performing the following duties.

Major Position Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assume responsibility for process documentation, control and improvement for pressing, welding, heat treatment, machining, assembly and/or process cells in cooperation with Operation, Maintenance and Quality personnel. Off-shift support and supplier visits will be required.
• Be able to lead a small multi functional team and manage multiple assignments in order to ensure successful support of operation schedule and quality requirements.
• Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
• Recommends methods for reducing variations and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
• Supports and leads continuous improvement efforts at the facility through lean manufacturing principles and techniques.
• Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
• Develops management systems for cost analysis, financial planning, and job evaluation and project justification.

Basic Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Skills and Abilities:

• 6 Sigma methodology, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control,
• ISO-9001 or 9002 standard, Robotics,
• Open die extrusion and cold forming, open die hot forging, steel welding (MIG, TIG, SAW).
• Heat Treatment, Shot Blasting, Machining, Conversion coating, Painting, Assembly, Trouble shooting, process improvement and project leadership.
