General Dynamics Ordnance & Tactical Systems is Hiring an Associate Program Manager Near Red Lion, PA

Overview

Assist the R&D Program Management office in budgetary management, training development, customer contact development, inter-agency coordination, and overall liaison for all facets of business management. The position of Associate Program Manager will, as required, fulfill full program management responsibility over selected programs and must be able to function in a leadership capacity and assume the role and responsibilities of a Program Manager as required by the supervisor.

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the execution of contract programs and various contractor activities as prioritized/directed by the leader.
  • Fulfill the duties and requirements of a Program Manager, and provide support to Programs as required.
  • Interface with all functional areas including Engineering, Contracts, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Operations, and coordinate timely execution of program business.
  • Interact with customers and develop required communications to include but not limited to program status, business opportunities, scheduling, program issues, and risk mitigation.
  • Manage and present the requirements for regular program cost reporting, and other information, as required, to the leadership, and others.
  • Facilitate assimilation of information for distribution to customer or other internal business groups.
  • Create Integrated Master Plans and Schedules. Establish milestones and ensure adherence to these plans and schedules.
  • Oversee daily program activities to ensure successful performance to program cost, schedule and technical requirements.
  • Lead and support the preparation of proposals and bid reviews with company leadership. Assist in the negotiation of contract and contract changes, and financial terms/conditions of contract, as required.
  • Direct program activities, leading program review sessions with customers to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Respond to contract changes with timely submittals of new program plans and cost impacts.
  • Ensure all requirements are met from contract award (kickoff) to initiations of closeout.
  • Manage bid and proposal activities, as required, from initiation to completion, acting as proposal manager.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have good organizational, writing and presentation skills, and have strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently, as well as be a team player and work in an integrated team environment. The ability to handle multiple assignments at the same time, work well under pressure, and meet agreed upon schedule commitments is critical to success in this position.
  • Must have the ability to process and understand technical information, as well as a working knowledge of Quality Assurance, Production, Material, and other manufacturing business functions.
  • Must adhere to all company and product-related Safety and Environmental hazard rules and regulations.

Education/Experience:

EDUCATION:

  • S. degree required (Engineering or technical degree preferred, but not required).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Defense Industry and/or related field desired.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Production Environment/Facility desired.
  • Security clearance is a plus.

Computer Skills:

  • Must be well-versed in Microsoft Office
  • Microsoft Project experience is preferred

  • Products involve the use of hazardous materials (explosive, pyrotechnic, propellants).
  • Indirectly supervises and/or coordinates services obtained from other departments such as Quality, Engineering, Receiving Inspection, Manufacturing, Ballistics, etc.
  • Interfaces with several different military branches during the course of various development/production programs.
  • Ability to travel extensively, on short notice, including overseas travel.
  • Ability to lead and the ability to take direction are crucial for success in this position.
