Position Description:
This UAW Skilled Trades represented position includes:
- Plan, layout (except major construction or rearrangement program), draw working sketches and make up Bill of Materials required for construction and installation of, and repairs to office and shop partitions, casings, tables, cabinets, layout boards, frames, benches, racks, doors, scaffolding, tanks, storage bins, assembly fixtures, rube bending fixtures, platforms, roofs, flooring, sheds and wooden structures, concrete forms, etc.
- Install and change door checks, latches and all hardware related to carpenter work.
Position Requirements:
Successful applicant:
- Must have completed an Apprenticeship in the Trade or must provide documentation to support a minimum of 4 years experience in the Trade.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must successfully complete vetting process administered by Department of Army Police for unescorted facility access.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must successfully complete pre-employment process including but may not be limited to background check, medical exam, and drug screen.
- Must satisfy skills test (including vision, audio, respirator clearance, physical).
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Secret-level security clearance.
- May be required to obtain license to operate radio-controlled overhead crane.
- Work product must meet GDLS quality systems requirements.
Working Conditions and Environment:
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and handling various parts up to 50 lbs.
- Climbing ladders both into and onto structures.
- Bending, kneeling, standing, stooping, crawling.
- Potential for walking and standing on uneven surfaces.
- Working in and around dust, fumes, oils, mists, lubricants, solvents and in areas with a high noise volume.
- Depending upon departmental assignment wearing a respirator may be required.
- Using hand tools including, but not limited to sledge hammer, pry bar, various saws, drills and other tools associated with this Trade.
- Overtime and off-shift work may be required.
- Wearing of required PPE (personal protective equipment) is mandatory.
