Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center located in Los Angeles is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) bed hospital and six outlying outpatient and residential facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds.As a member of the Human Resources Team, the Talent Acquisition Specialist identifies and attracts highly qualified candidates to work at Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, developing talent sources and creating an ongoing talent pipeline; partners with hiring managers to anticipate talent needs, including succession planning; manages the onboarding and orientation process, and provides ongoing staff learning and development.

The Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for managing the organization’s recruiting process company-wide; will be charged with a full set of recruiting responsibilities ranging from direct sourcing to on-site scheduling working alongside the Gateways Hospital Leadership team. These responsibilities will include sourcing, cold calling, scheduling, interviewing, facilitating, and managing the onboarding process. You will focus on networking with high-quality and diverse talent to build strong pipelines for healthcare and various other client organizations. You will interact daily with candidates, hiring managers, and interviewers in coordinating and scheduling all phases of the interview and submission process.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Writes and coordinates job descriptions and internal and external job postings, and develops creative recruitment programs and marketing materials (consistent with Gateways Hospital branding and messaging guidelines.
  • Manage employees’ onboarding and orientation programs
  • Timely recruiting, screening, interviewing and onboarding of applicants for positions in the organization.
  • Uses behavioral-based interview techniques to assess candidate competency and eliminates unqualified candidates from the hiring process as early as possible.
  • Sets and fulfills service-level agreements with hiring managers; communicates the hiring process to candidates and provides timely status updates.
  • Understands and makes compensation offers based on the organization’s formal compensation guidelines.
  • Stays current with industry trends, economic conditions, and other variables that may motivate candidates to seek career opportunities elsewhere.
  • Develops and maintains a network and database of potential candidates for future needs, including a pipeline of passive candidates.
  • Develops strategic outreach plans and processes to ensure a diverse candidate pool, including attending career fairs, and professional events to develop relationships that support Gateways Hospital's brand and growth plan.
  • Works closely with the HR team and hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop proactive, innovative sourcing/recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Implements Gateways Hospital brand confidence and retention practices in partnership with Director, Human Resources, and Human Resources Business partner.
  • Promotes Gateways Hospital employee referral bonus program.
  • Enters and maintains current, accurate, and consistent information in the applicant tracking system, including but not limited to job posting content, applicant tracking and response, anecdotal information, and other required data.
  • Develops and executes a proactive, innovative, cost-effective recruitment/sourcing strategy to target a diverse pool of qualified applicants for vacancies
  • Analyzes and updates job descriptions
  • Participates in job fairs, open houses. Contacts schools of nursing/colleges to conduct on-campus interviews.
  • Prioritizes and successfully collaborates with hiring managers for optimal responsiveness and timeliness.
  • Performs reference and background checks, verification of licensure, and/or certification per hospital policy.
  • Compiles and analyzes information concerning turnovers and other personnel statistics.
  • In coordination with the Human Resources Department analyze relevant market factors, including compensation packages, shift differential, and sign-on bonuses.
  • May conduct exit interviews and relay information back to department managers.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly reports as assigned.
  • Assists Human Resources Director in formulating a budget for the recruitment process.
  • Maintains thorough documentation.

Required Experience:

  • Skilled at building and maintaining strong internal and external working relationships
  • Adept at delivering a high-quality recruitment process experience to the applicant and the hiring manager
  • Proven experience meeting hiring targets with qualified candidates.
  • Develops concrete and actionable strategies for “hard to fill” positions.
  • Partners with the Director, HR to implement an intentional and results-oriented “diversity recruitment strategies” with the goal of our employee population reflecting the communities we serve.
  • Experience conducting effective screening, interviewing, selection, and assessment techniques.
  • Experience creating or leveraging marketing/advertising, social media, and other industry best practices to develop effective sourcing strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of recruitment principles and processes and credentialing/hiring standards for health care professionals and other managerial/professional groups.
  • Extensive experience using Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Proven ability to extract and present analytics from Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Manages “preferred vendor relationships” including monitoring hours worked by “contract employees” to affect the complementary transition to Gateways Hospital employment, as needed.
  • Strategic, dynamic, enthusiastic, and quick to take initiative.
  • Highly motivated, goal-driven, result-oriented, and a team player.
  • Ability to create a compelling value proposition statement for engaging and recruiting passive, top talent for critical-to-fill positions.
  • Experience with and knowledge of sourcing effectiveness, screening, interviewing selection, and candidate assessment techniques.
  • High-level experience using electronic media, social networking, internet research, candidate mining, and professional organizations to source candidates and build talent pipelines.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing demands, and accept constructive feedback, while demonstrating adaptability and flexibility in approach.

Education

  • BA/BS Degree in a related field; equivalent combination of education and/or work experience in a related field may be substituted
  • Certification in Recruitment or Human Resources required
  • 5 years of talent acquisition level experience conducting effective sourcing / full-cycle recruiting for a variety of leadership, management, clinical, professional, technical, and support positions.
  • Agency recruiting/sourcing experience preferred.
  • Healthcare industry or related field preferred.

Requirements

  • Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
  • Valid California Driver’s license
  • TB clearance
