GENERAL SUMMARY

The Machinist is responsible for fabrication and layout on a variety of parts or products involving close tolerances. Must set up and operate all machine shop machines to cut, bend, machine or form parts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Responsible for quality of work performed in machine shop area
2. Accountable for fabrication and layout on a variety of parts or products involving close tolerances
3. Set up and operate all machine shop machines to cut, bend, machine, or form parts
4. Uses a variety of machine shop hand tools and measuring instruments
5. Assist Group Lead in all functions of the machine shop including work flow and process improvement
6. Performs all job assignments as instructed by the Plant Manager and/or Group Lead
7. Responsible for keeping both machinery and plant area in good working order, including cleaning and maintenance of machine shop equipment and all tools involved in daily production
8. Responsible for good housekeeping practices in the Fabrication area
9. Abides by all policies, procedures, and guidelines of the company including good common sense safety practices
10. Performs all job assignments as instructed by the Group Lead, Assistant Plant Manager and/or Vice President, Operations.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Basic skills in CNC programming and precision hand tools
• 3-5 years related experience
• Techinical training certificate
• Working knowledge to read and interpret prints
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
