Garage Team Mazda is Hiring an Associate Creative Director Near Costa Mesa, CA

Garage Team Mazda offers a vaccinated, hybrid working environment which is a blend of on-site work to allow for purposeful collaboration, community, and connectivity with colleagues, along with remote work offering work-life balance and flexibility. 
In this role, you will become one of the vital Visual leads on Mazda's digital channels. Successful candidates will have an intuitive feeling of how digital products should work and a deep understanding of what users want and need regarding digital experiences. Reporting to the SVP, Creative Director of Consumer Experiences, you'll be instrumental in developing the day-to-day work involved in the Visual Design and Content creation for Mazda's digital platforms. Including digital strategy, idea conception, and interaction/UI design across touch points—web, mobile, CRM, social, tablet, and in-store. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in brainstorming for digital campaigns with the rest of the design team. Including but not limited to Editorial and social media content ideas.
  • Lead the growth of our Mazda's visual language. Enforce consistency across multiple touch points.
  • Lead the production for all Creative Visual Design assets for MazdaUSA.com projects
  • Provide Progress report to managers at GTM
  • Revision and subsequent approval of Production Request forms for digital projects 
  • Keeping abreast with advancements in application design and new technologies.

  • A proven track record in both digital product design and advertising campaign work, including knowledge of high-level UI/UX, conceptual development, and branding.

WHAT YOU'LL DO: 

  • Provide strong design direction to other designers on the team, encouraging creative use of our client's design principles and existing visual frameworks to produce designs and, where appropriate, new styles and patterns... 
  • Big idea thinking leads to creating unique experiences across all existing and new channels that reach a particular audience. 
  • Intersection of Data and Technology using data to lead the production of multi-channel campaigns and experiences that successfully connect with the audience through a predefined journey. 
  • Technically driven. Ability to generate highly effective creative concepts and components that provide an exceptional user experience 
  • Collaborate with your Account and Strategy counterparts. Successfully integrate into the larger team and be a positive force in creating a positive work environment and agency culture. 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • At least eight years of digital art direction and web design leadership experience are required, with at least 1-2 years of experience leading teams and projects. Strong experience in the advertising industry (luxury, premium automotive, premium fashion, or premium tech experience is a plus).
  • Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding and appreciation of UX. With an ability to articulate the importance of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy. 
  • Engaging presentation style and visual communication skills—you should be excited about your work and know how to spread that enthusiasm. Someone who is an expert at handling themselves and our clients in every situation. 
  • Experience using data and technology to come up with innovative brand experiences. 
  • Portfolio showing excellent use of creative, design, and conceptual capabilities. 
  • Demonstrated experience creating integrated digital/omnichannel platforms that engage consumers and guide their journey across multiple touchpoints.
  • Proficiency in creating personalized experiences across channels and platforms. 
  • Can juggle multiple projects and delegate work effectively.
  • Can discern individual team members' abilities and match the right people with the proper work.
  • Is comfortable collaborating with people from different creative disciplines and teams.
  • Proficient content production skills, from pre-production through completion.
  • Apple/Mac computer literacy, software skills typically required in advertising, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Keynote, etc.
  • Experience presenting to senior clients. Forges strong relationships with other design teams at GTM and works with them to influence the entire GTM ecosystem. 
  • Someone who knows how and when to defend design choices is open to feedback. 
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
