The Active Systems division adheres to a 9/80 work schedule, with every other Friday off. In a two-week period, employees will work 9 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, the first week Friday is an 8-hour workday, while the second week Friday is off.

PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES:

The Director, Program Management is responsible for the management of Galvion’s Active Systems Business Unit programs and projects. Focused on Warfighter Power and Data Management solutions, the Director, Program Management is responsible for the control and execution of projects and programs across cost, schedule, and performance for the full life cycle of the program. The Director, Program Management is responsible for program and project planning from bid/capture through execution. They are responsible for the Program Management Office (PMO) to include resource planning for the PMO, templates and governance associated with program excellence. The Active Systems PMO executes strategic initiatives developed during short and long term planning cycles.

SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

People:

  • Manage Project Managers within the PMO, to include coaching, mentoring, and training to achieve established weekly, monthly, and yearly objectives.
  • Coordinate and/or integrate personnel from various departments into projects and/or task forces required for the successful management of customer expectations.
  • Provide leadership to employees not administratively assigned to the PMO, but who are under your operational control, in such a manner that these personnel have a desire to follow your instructions, meet the objectives or end state of the project, and feel part of the team.
  • Work proactively within the Active Systems Leadership team to ensure programs and projects exceed internal customer and external customer expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Business Development and Sales team to provide winning proposals and bids.

Process:

  • Define PM best practices including implementation of process and templates to ensure consistent project management across the business unit.
  • Develop and execute on risk management plans to maximize project success.
  • Integrate all stages of the Galvion stage gate process into the everyday battle rhythm of each individual assigned to the PMO.
  • Reinforce the use of current information technology to collect and disseminate data that is related to a given project. If needed, identify additional tools needed to for collection of data.
  • Develop and conduct a regular schedule of meetings and briefings to ensure all required personnel are informed in accordance with the appropriate stage gate process.
  • Manage white paper and proposal responses from a bid decision and through submittal

Performance:

  • Plan and request required human, financial and equipment resources for each project.
  • Prioritize each project to allow competing resources to be planned accordingly.
  • Develop, maintain and responsible for project performance across budget, schedule, and performance.
  • Develop and demonstrate a solutions-based organization which finds appropriate solutions to overcome project challenges.
  • Create quantifiable criteria for measurement of meeting customer expectations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business, MBA preferred.
  • 10 year’s product/project management experience in a product driven company
  • Experience managing and developing products to meet highly-defined, customer-technical requirements and governing technical standards.
  • Demonstrable project management experience leading cross-functional teams in product development efforts ensuring resources are used in the most productive and cost effective way
  • Proven success in all phases of the project life cycle—white papers/proposals, development of project scope, scheduling, resourcing, and production transition.
  • A proven track record of project management in a high velocity, product development environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to align and lead a team in the execution of corporate and business unit goals
  • Passion for exploration and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to effectively attract and select motivated and dedicated staff.
  • Development and/or Management of employee training and development program.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to successfully operate in a highly charged matrix organization.
  • Driven for success and desire to be an integral part of a winning team.
  • Responsiveness to external and internal customers and a can-do, positive attitude are a must.
  • Prior military experience is a plus.
