Come Build Your Career Under OUR Roof Job Description: SIPLAST QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN, I-IV -or- QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN, I-IV General Overview: The Quality Control Technician / Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for all Quality Control and Quality Assurance testing, and is involved in determining the quality status of questionable products per the SQS (Siplast Quality System) Manual in alignment with Siplast’s status in the roofing industry as a technical leader and supplier of premium, consistent, high-quality roofing and waterproofing materials. Duties & Areas Of Responsibility: The primary duties of the QC Technician / QA Technician consist of, but are not limited to, the following: Perform all specified Quality Control tests on raw materials, production blends, and finished products per established QC/QA procedures. Involved in product quality decisions regarding finished product and handles all product quality questions according to the SQS. Ensure all QC/QA functions are carried out according to specifications and time limitations, and notify the QC /QA Supervisor/Manager of unacceptable or questionable materials by means of "Raw Material Complaints" or other appropriate reporting. Input and review QC/QA data as it is tested and notify the QC/QASupervisor/Manager of out-of-spec and/or questionable data Follow the QC/QA Department guidelines within the ISO 9000 standard. Assist in training the QIT in material grading and dimensional measurement techniques. Proactively work to keep work areas neat, clean, and organized. Consistently demonstrate leadership in the department in the performance of all required job duties without direct supervision, providing guidance to less experienced personnel as needed. Comply with all safety regulations and policies (safety glasses, welding hoods, cutting goggles, respirators, lock-out/tag-out procedures, hot work permits, etc.) Minimum Requirements/ Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent Preferred Qualifications - Education, Experience, & Skills: 1 years of relevant QC/QA experience Comprehensive knowledge of all QC, QA, and raw material sampling and testing Formal mathematical and technical training Excellent interpersonal skills; positive and enthusiastic attitude to promote good relations in a team environment Proven leadership abilities Basic knowledge of machine and mixing operations Basic knowledge of laboratory safety, such as mixing simple solutions, use of instruments, etc. Strong mechanical aptitude Excellent judgment and problem resolution skills Competent verbal and written communication skills Computer competency with email, basic word processing, and spreadsheets, such as MS Office (Word, Excel) and/or Google Suite (Docs, Sheets) Physical Requirements: Must meet physical requirements to work in confined spaces as required by OSHA Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion, such as roofing products Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work with heights Ability to work while standing for extended periods Visual acuity to inspect products, read documents, computer screens, and files Manual dexterity to operate equipment, perform product inspections, data entry and filing, and position-related functions Ability to hear and speak on the phone Ability to bend, pull, and reach to perform position functions Ability to work in a plant/warehouse environment (including high/ low temperatures, dust, humidity, etc) Ability to wear a respirator as needed Quality Control Technician & Quality Assurance Technician Career Progression: Levels I-IV Minimum Requirements/ Qualifications: Level I - Quality Control Technician/ Quality Assurance Technician: Starting level for the QC/QA Technician positions with no prior experience with QC/QA or with Siplast production processes. This position will be heavily focused on training for Basic QC procedures, Siplast processes, and QA & QIT functions. Must be capable of fulfilling position requirements with limited supervision within six months, Consistently demonstrates an understanding of and compliance with all safety regulations, Has a minimum overall performance rating of “Meets” for most recent Mid-Year and/or Year-End overall performance rating(s). Level II - Quality Control Technician II/ Quality Assurance Technician II: Starting level for the QC/QA Technician positions with requisite prior QC/QA experience with another employer or with prior experience with Siplast production processes. This position will be heavily focused on training for Basic QC procedures, Siplast processes, and QA & QIT functions. Employee has requisite QC/QA experience or experience with Siplast production processes, and/or has been in the QC/QA Technician I role for a minimum of six months, AND: Has consistently demonstrated complete proficiency of all level I requirements with limited supervision within six months; Has consistently demonstrated understanding of and compliance with all safety regulations; Has a minimum overall performance rating of “Meets” for most recent Mid-Year and/or Year-End overall performance rating(s); Has not had any disciplinary action(s) for a minimum of six months. Level III - Quality Control Technician III/ Quality Assurance Technician III: Employee has been in the QC/QA Technician II role for a minimum of six months, has consistently demonstrated complete proficiency of all level II requirements with limited supervision, including QC, QA, QIT, and raw material testing without direct supervision, AND: Has consistently demonstrated ability to successfully accomplish assigned workload, Has consistently demonstrated effective assistance in keeping work areas neat, clean, and organized, Has consistently demonstrated understanding of and compliance with all safety regulations; Has a minimum overall performance rating of “Meets” for most recent Mid-Year and Year-End overall performance rating(s), Has not had any disciplinary action(s) for a minimum of twelve months. Level IV - Senior Quality Control Technician/ Senior Quality Assurance Technician: Employee has been in the QC/QA Technician III role for a minimum of six months and demonstrates complete proficiency of all level III requirements, AND: Has consistently demonstrated leadership in the performance of all required job duties without the need for direct supervision, Has frequently exceeded departmental goals and successfully completes high workload levels, Has consistently demonstrated good judgment and problem resolution skills, including when making decisions regarding the questionable quality of finished products and raw materials, Has consistently demonstrated proactive effectiveness of keeping work areas neat, clean, and organized, Has consistently demonstrated Company values and is a role model within the department; Has consistently demonstrated understanding of and compliance with all safety regulations, Has a minimum overall performance rating of “Meets” for most recent Mid-Year and Year-End overall performance rating(s), Has not had any disciplinary action(s) for a minimum of twelve months.
