JOB SUMMARY:

Gads Hill Center seeks an individual who is mission-driven, strategic, and process-oriented with experience scaling management capacity, alignment and operational planning and tracking among a group of diverse and talented individuals. The COO must be a leader who is able to help others at GHC deliver measurable, cost-effective results that make the Agencys strategic vision a reality. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day management of several administrative functions of the agency and serve as leadership liaison and thought partner to the CEO. A successful COO will have the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into the power that each member of the team brings to the mission. This individual oversees the Agencys day-to-day operations, enabling the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to focus on their strategic responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the CEO, the COO will lead all internal operations and will have the following responsibilities:

Operations Management and Process Building

  1. Work in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer to develop, communicate and track accomplishments and barriers to the agencys annual operational plan.
  2. Creates, implements and holds management accountable for all agency policies and processes.
  3. Provide day to day administrative management for the following departments:
    1. Information Technology
    2. Resource Development
    3. Quality Improvement and Data Management and Reporting
    4. Communications and Marketing
    5. Human Resources
    6. Facilities Management
  4. Serve as the internal leader of the organization:
    1. In support of the Human Resource Manager, implement the annual performance management cycle, benefits enrollment, employee recruiting and onboarding.
    2. In support of the Director of Development, contribute to the creation and implementation of annual fund development strategies.
    3. In support of the IT Associate Director, facilitate technology integration across the agencys departments and help to identify technology that will improve agency and program performance and efficiency.
    4. Guide the development of annual internal and external communications and marketing activities and serve as communication counsel and advisor to the CEO.
    5. Build inter-team communications, cohesiveness, and skills/competencies building, including staff professional development.

Internal management

  1. Provide a strong day-to-day leadership presence for all staff; bridge the operations of the five Children and Youth Centers
  2. Oversee the day-to-day operations, policies, and procedures across all teams, ensuring quality, excellence, consistency, efficiency, and best practice to achieve strategic goals.
  3. Work in coordination with Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to implement and monitor the progress of the agencys annual budget.
  4. Ensure effective use of Salesforce and technology, including database management.
  5. Ensure compliance with all applicable human resource laws, policies, and procedures.
  6. Support all aspects of CEO internal and external communication including the development of materials for Board Meetings and Board Committee meetings.

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all Gads Hill Center employees are responsible for the following:

  1. Participates in agency outreach and recruitment events, including evenings and weekends.
  2. Participates in supervision meetings and workshops within the agency and outside (if applicable).
  3. Participates in civic engagement activities that advance the mission of Gads Hill Center.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree required, MBA or similar advanced degree highly desired.
  • Substantially demonstrated experience managing organizations.
  • Expertise in Area of Focus: thorough understanding of finance and HR; broad experience with the full range of business functions and systems. A proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, experience, and judgement; high level of business acumen including profit and loss management; the ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget; and problem solving, project management, and creative resourcefulness.
  • Strategic Thinking: ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plans.
  • Supervise and Develop Others: ability to effectively build organization and staff capacity, developing a top-notch workforce and the process that ensures the organization runs smoothly. Exceptional capacity for managing and leading people; a team builder who has the capacity to enforce accountability, develop and empower top-notch leaders from the bottom up, lead from the top down, cultivate entrepreneurship, and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the team so as to put people in positions to succeed.
