Due to the classification level of the projects we support, we are not able to offer fully remote opportunities at this time. As a Defense Contractor, we are frequently working with sensitive material, and therefore, we need to ensure where you access your work is secure. You will have your own new, shiny desk at one of our G2 Ops offices, plus the occasional opportunity to work on-site directly with our customers (this is a good thing!). We do allow teleworking with prior IT Department and manager approval. Here's the thing, we have worked very hard to create an awesome culture where our employees get to come to a collaborative, exciting office environment and we want you to join the fun!
Still not convinced? Allow us to elaborate. For this opportunity, we are seeking a highly motivated, technology-focused, team-oriented Principal Systems Engineer to join our team. This exciting position will be a part of a team of experienced systems engineers supporting and leading various initiatives for the United States Space Force.
Our team is responsible for providing engineering, technical analysis and subject matter expertise (SME) support to the Space Systems Command (SSC). Our team is also paving the way and transforming our customers engineering teams to using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) SySML models to build, update, and maintain these important systems. You will support decomposition and allocation of top-level requirements to lower lever requirement documents, assess proposed baseline changes for impacts to requirements and verification, work with configuration management and technical SMEs to develop and track change proposals, and develop acquisition and technical briefings and other documentation to support SMC decision making.
As a System Engineer working for the Department of Defense, this person will be required to work onsite approximately three (3) to four (4) days each week due to the system classification and program needs.
What does this mean to you? This is an exciting time to be part of a team that’s impacting how engineering is being performed on a day-to-day basis. We’re looking for engineering experts to lead our teams as we take on tough problems and build complex, highly sophisticated systems. Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering, computer science, or related plus five (5) years or more of industry experience (DoD military systems, satellite communications, etc.) Our desired candidate will be skilled in developing system behavior, structure, and data, plus requirements management, analysis, and traceability.
To be successful in this role, you should be able to communicate clearly with stakeholders and engineering leadership teams to ensure requirements are clearly defined and Customer expectations are being met. The ability to analyze new and complex program-related problems and create innovative solutions that integrate schedule, technology, methodology, tools, and financial aspects are critical components to this position.
Next, as we are working for the DOD, we are beholden to some requirements. The ideal candidate would already possess an active DOD Secret Clearance, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI without issue. Don’t let it stop you from applying if you don’t have a clearance. We’re willing to work with the right candidate to get a security clearance. Additionally, certifications such as INCOSE, OCSMP, and CISSP are a big plus.
Not sure if you are qualified? Apply anyway! Remember that cross training we talked about? Even if your primary job focuses in the past aren’t Engineering focused, but you want to expand and strengthen your technical prowess, we should still talk.
Congratulations, you made it all the way to the end of this job posting! We look forward to learning more about you!
