Location: Patuxent River, MD
Clearance: Secret with a SSBI required
Responsibilities
The Systems Administrator will serve as on-site support at NAS Pax River to the IT Infrastructure & Services team. The candidate will carry out the tasks and functions of the position as directed by the Logistics Information Technology & Maintenance Integration Solution (LITMIS) Lab Manager and will engage with the IT I&S Team on a regular basis to ensure a consistent and efficient lab operation.
The selected candidate will work with a team to provide continual support and monitoring of computer systems by resolving or escalating problems that arise. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Must be capable of maintaining Microsoft Windows 10 workstations, server 2012R2 and 2016 Operating Systems, as well as Hyper-v and VMware hypervisors • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, ACAS (Tenable Security Center and NESSUS software), and HBSS (McAfee ePO and point products) is highly desired • Ability to quickly learn / operate information technologies and products using available documentation and internet resources • Use analytical/critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assist lab customers with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting issues in their test environments• Assist IPT Leads in preparing the lab for scheduled test events• Communicate problems and risks associated with the daily functions of the lab to the LITMIS Manager• Screen visitors and assist in the physical security of the lab• Assist with Tech Refresh of lab equipment and removal of old equipment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant technical discipline plus, 3-5 years of relevant experience; or Associates degree and 5-7 years relevant experience.
- IAT level II or higher-CompTIA Security with a current Operating System (OS) certification
- Past experience with the configuration of network switches, storage arrays, database and web-server administration, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating systems.
- Knowledge of server room rack mounted equipment management, network cabling, power distribution, and environmental controls are also a plus.
- Ability to quickly learn / operate information technologies and products using available documentation and internet resources.
- Familiarity with DISA STIGs, ACAS (Tenable Security Center and NESSUS software), and HBSS (McAfee ePO and point products) is highly desired.
- Requires excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A Security Clearance with SSBI is required.
*Note: This position requires the candidate to work on-site in the LITMIS Lab located on Naval Air Station Patuxent River MD.
