The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.
The Director of People Operations will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations mission and talent strategy. The Director of People Operations reports to the Chief People Officer and supervise the HR Generalist and Talent Acquisition Team.
The Director of Human Resources is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resources function at FPHNYC and provides strategic leadership in all matters related to the assessment of and planning for the HR functions and systems. The Director of Human Resources is also responsible for the institutions overall improvements to HR effectiveness, including organizing and monitoring efforts in process improvement, facilitating change and measuring progress.
The Director must be highly effective in working with individuals and teams including the ability to develop and foster positive working relationships both internal to the central office and with the HR and program staff at the Health Department, our primary partner. The Director must have the ability to focus on results while appreciating process and driving forward implementation.
