QA Automation Engineer

Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated, innovative Quality Assurance Architect/Manager to help build and operate our next generation Cloud Platform to transform the transportation industry. In this role, you will work as an integrated member of the Product Engineering team to ensure the quality of our customer facing applications and support a highly robust, scalable and secure cloud platform to meet the needs of our enterprise customers. The QA Architect/Manager is a senior position responsible for the Software Quality Assurance team, leading new and existing Quality Assurance initiatives, with onsite and offshore team members and will be instrumental in managing QA processes, driving test automation, resource planning and implementing the best-in class tools.

QA Automation Engineer Responsibilities:

• Meeting with the software design team to discuss verification protocols.
• Identifying software application weaknesses and target areas.
• Sketching out ideas for automated software test procedures.
• Reviewing software bug reports and highlighting problem areas.
• Writing automation scripts and implementing software applications.
• Designing and installing software databases.
• Troubleshooting automation software and finalizing system procedures.
• Identifying quality issues and creating test reports.
• Collaborating with the design team to solve application faults.

• Lead and manage a team of QA engineers and enabling them with best-in class industry leading automation tools and processes
• Oversee/ensure the quality of test plans, test cases, test matrix, and bug reporting

• Support and troubleshoot the platform for scalability, high availability, performance, monitoring of FreightVerify platform across multiple cloud environments
• Effective at quickly understanding technology and explaining it in non-technical terms as well as understanding business goals getting incorporated into application testing.
• Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and processes to improve speed, efficiency, and scalability
• Optimize and improve automation as part of the core QA transformation objective

• Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.

• Leverage Metrics to provide realistic quality index to the management.
• Help develop test automation strategies for zero down time deployments (Blue-Green)

• Design and maintain the test automation frameworks (Cuccumber/TestNG or similar)
• Design and architect modular and reusable automated testing solutions that satisfy customer requirements
• Work closely with the test team to identify new automation opportunities.
• Mentor the test automation team.
• Contribute to managing of test environments.
• Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information.

QA Automation Engineer Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Math, or comparable work experience
• Strong bias to automate everything and mindset to transform QA practices
• QA professional with 10 years software industry and management experience
• Five years test automation experience with a minimum of three years at a senior level. Demonstrated. Experience in selecting, designing, and implementing test automation frameworks. Experience developing in-house automation tools
• Strong hand-on experience
  • Using Selenium or similar automation tools
  • JIRA, Confluence and Xray
• Proficient with scripting (Python, Perl, and Bash skills desired)
• Proficient with automation tools like Jenkins, Ansible a plus
• Excellent understanding of API Gateways, Postman Collections, Message Handlers, Micro-services API architecture
• Deep database (RDBMS) technology understanding with hands on experience in SQL and procedural languages
• Strong bias to metrics driven decision making and objective assessment of maintaining test data and environments
• Expertise in defining, maintaining and executing Postman collections
• Collaborative personality with good communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Successful track record as a 'hands on' leader within QA teams, building and managing teams to a level of top-notch professionals
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
