Freese and Nichols, Inc. is Hiring a GIS Analyst III Near Raleigh, NC
Freese and Nichols is seeking a GIS Analyst to join our Southeast Region with offices located in North Carolina, Georgia, and Northern Virginia. The GIS Analyst is responsible for ensuring end user adoption for GIS technologies, including tasks such as data collection and development, data QA/QC, general analysis / map production on GIS software, specifically in support of our FEMA Risk MAP (Risk Mapping, Assessment, and Planning) projects. The GIS Analyst will work on FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) production and quality end user adoption for GIS technologies, including tasks such as data collection and development, data QA/QC, and map production. Support tasks within a Risk MAP flood study lifecycle, such as basemap, terrain, and FIRM database development; floodplain mapping; preliminary issuance; and post-preliminary processing. Perform GIS analytical and geo-processing functions including input, editing, manipulation, management, analysis, and output of spatial and tabular data sets using ArcGIS or other GIS software. Develop vector and raster spatial analysis tools and scripts using ModelBuilder, Python, or other GIS scripting languages. Develop geodatabase schemas and analysis methods needed to support project goals. Prepare written documentation describing methodologies/procedures and prepare exhibits. Maintain GIS data and cataloging system. Work with users to produce special purpose maps. Maintain and enhance geospatial data for projects. Obtain data from a variety of non-GIS sources and incorporate that data into a GIS project. Ability to work independently and in a group to complete projects on time. Mentor and delegate tasks to junior GIS staff. Qualifications 3 years relevant experience with a Bachelors degree in Geography or related field Experience with Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, Spatial Analyst, and 3D Analyst Excellent written and verbal communication skills are imperative. Preferred Familiarity with the Risk MAP project lifecycle, FEMA guidance, standards, and technical references Experience with Esri ArcSDE Experience building relationship tables within geodatabases Experience with Esri’s ArcHydro extension Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic principles, survey and mapping GPS systems, aerial photographic interpretation, database development and management Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification At Freese and Nichols, everyone on our team gets to make a meaningful difference in our communities.
