Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is Hiring a Research Technician I- II (Lund Lab) Near Seattle, WA

The Lund lab in the Immunology and Vaccine Development (IVD) Program of the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division (VIDD) is recruiting a Research Technician I-II, with a focus on bench research duties under the supervision of senior lab staff and the PI.

Responsibilities

  • Duties may include processing and analysis of primary blood and tissue samples for flow cytometry, PCR-based analysis of cell populations, sterile cell culture work with cell lines and primary cells, ELISA assays, mouse colony management and genotyping, and general lab upkeep and chores.
  • The candidate must also be comfortable working with potentially infectious material and biosafety level 2 techniques.

Qualifications

To be successful in this position, the candidate must be highly motivated, execute experiments in a timely manner, possess a great attention to detail, and must also be able to multi-task and prioritize work at short notice. They must also be capable of working independently in a team environment. Candidates with excellent organizational skills and communication skills (written and oral) are encouraged to apply.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a biological science and research experience is required.
  • Research Technician I minimum qualifications - Must have scientific knowledge in the area of study and basic laboratory skills. Independent research experience in addition to school lab experience is a plus.
  • Research Technician II minimum qualifications - Intermediate level position requiring 2 years previous experience working in a laboratory. Independent research experience outside of laboratory course work is necessary.
  • The candidate must be detail-oriented, a team player and a fast and willing learner.
  • The ideal candidate has prior experience with cellular biology techniques including cell culture, multicolor flow cytometry and biological sample handling.
  • Experience working with primary T cells, FACS sorting and mouse handling are highly desirable.
