Job Title: Project Accountant

Department: Accounting

Location: Englewood, CO

Supervisor: Accountant

Status: Salaried, Exempt

What You’ll Be Doing:

The Project Accountant performs general accounting tasks in support of a project team. This includes data entry, analysis, billing, reporting, and performs payroll and job cost processes specific to one or more projects and construction job sites.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Accounts Receivable – preparation of monthly progress billings and entry into the accounting system, application of cash receipts, review of AR Aging and report distribution to leadership team
  • Job Costing – entry of job cost transactions and review of project specific Job Cost reports
  • Sales & Use Tax Reporting – review sales taxes paid and prepare use tax returns or project specific reconciliations
  • Account Reconciliations
  • Month End Close – prepare journal entries as part of the month end close process
  • Prepare/analyze monthly financial reports
  • Assist with annual audit inquiries relating to projects and ensure proper documentation is maintained throughout the year in support of the annual audit
  • Apply appropriate accounting techniques and standard practices when entering, tracking, analyzing, reconciling and reporting on assigned projects
  • Adhere to proper internal accounting controls

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management or equivalent work experience
  • Two years of project accounting or relevant accounting experience
  • Strong working knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Previous sales and use tax experience is preferred
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Strong listening skills and overall communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Professionally communicate with all levels of personnel within the organization and with external clients and partners
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organization skills with a high attention to detail and deadlines

What you’ll get from us:

  • Colorado's 2021 Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) requires we provide an estimated base salary range for this position: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year. Actual salary range is based on fair market value of the role in the geography in which you live based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Fransen Pittman reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
