POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: MEDICAL RECORDS DIRECTOR
DEPARTMENT: MEDICAL RECORDS
REPORTS TO: DON / ADMINISTRATOR
POSTION PURPOSE:
Plans, develops, and administers medical record systems for the facility in accordance with State and Federal Regulations as well as professional standards of practice and company and facility policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
1.Organize, plan, and manage the Medical Records Department in accordance with established polices and procedures including electronic medical records
2.Develop procedures to ensure records are properly completed, coded, signed, scanned etc.
3.Collect, assemble, check, and scan resident charts and records as required.
4.Processes daily mail to be sent to physicians for signatures
5.Prepares folders and maintains records of newly admitted residents and discharge residents
EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS:
Associates Degree in Medical Records Technology preferred. Credentials as a Registered Health Information Technologist or obtain within 1 year of the position. Must have 3 years of medical records experience and 2 years supervisory experience.
