Position Description:

The Franklin Institute’s Youth Programs offerings aim to inspire middle and high school students to explore their curiosity for science and develop a STEM identity and equips students with the tools and knowledge necessary to pursue opportunities in these areas.

The Youth Programs Coordinator will develop and lead STEM related workshops; interact with student participants, families, and workshop educators; provide general program support; chaperone off-site field trips; and support any other programmatic offerings and events. The Youth Programs Coordinator will also be responsible for:

  • Candidate will run the day-to-day operations of the Ambassador Program
    • Plan and deliver curriculum for youth development programming.
    • Run weekly meetings.
    • Oversee Ambassadors events, both within and outside of the museum (point of contact for all events)
    • Conduct annual reviews for all Ambassadors.
  • Assist in the recruitment of new students to PACTS workshops.
  • Schedule trips for the PACTS program and act as a chaperone for these trips.
  • Develop and maintain a working relationship with parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community leaders.
  • Maintain a database of current students, alumni, and program partners.
  • Administrative tasks to support department- i.e.: purchase requests, supplies management and ordering, etc.
  • Support weekly meetings for the freshman and sophomore year components of STEM Scholars Program, in collaboration with university and industry partners.
  • Support additional Youth Programs events.
  • Support museum floor operations on an occasional basis

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or coursework in education, guidance, or science-related field.
  • Classroom management and teaching skills, particularly with middle and/or high school students, either in a formal or informal setting.

Status: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

  • Typical work hours are Tues-Sat, with some evening hours, during the Academic Year (September- May/June) and Mon-Friday during Summer (July, August). Position may include occasional weekend community engagement events.
