Job Summary/Purpose:
Performs the maintenance of the district grounds and other work as needed and/or determined by the Grounds/Warehouse/Specialist Manager and/or Foreman. Work as part of a team to develop and to maintain school district grounds in safe condition.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Prefer High School diploma or an acceptable amount of specialized training and experience.
Knowledge/Skills
General knowledge about common grounds work, activities, practices, tools, terminology, accident prevention and precautions of the work. Skilled in comprehending and applying written labels, instructions, and directions as they pertain to work performance, safety, and record keeping aspects of the job. Able to work cooperatively with a wide variety of fellow employees, department supervisors and others throughout the District with whom he/she comes in contact. Able to follow oral or written instructions and to learn from direct training and practical experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license and class for the type of vehicle to be driven. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record and valid driver’s license as a condition of placement into the position; and for continued employment. See Policy/Regulation #4121 GE.
Experience: Possess practical experience with an assortment of the tools, machines and equipment used in this work; some experience in some of the specific areas related to the kind of work that will be performed. Examples of kinds of previous experience include work on a farm, in a plant nursery or greenhouse, construction work with heavy equipment irrigation systems, and landscaping.
