Our growing construction firm is looking for a Controller to join our team. Controllers should be able to successfully complete their tasks and are responsible for the financial and accounting functions of Fox Cities Builders and affiliated entities controlled by ownership. The controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. The controller is also responsible for enhancing the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principals or international financial reporting standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Supervision of team members
• Oversee the timely and accurate preparation accounts receivable progress billings based upon specific contract terms
• Review accounts receivable, aging reports, and assist with direct reports for collections
• Supervise the payment process to vendors and subcontractors and confirm lien waivers are properly collected
• Monitor account balances to ensure requirements are met
• Manage IT related issues
• Mentoring direct reports to grow in their roles and responsibilities as the company continues to grow
• Perform special assignments as directed by the ownership

Financial reporting:

• Preparation and review of monthly financial statements for Fox Cities Builders and affiliated entities
• Review financial statements with ownership
• Create budgets with ownership and manage budgets to ensure fiscal health and responsibility
• Preparation of construction schedules
• Oversee the monthly job cost report process with the C-Suite and department for use in creating and updating contract schedules and updated work in progress reports for internal and external use
• Participate in the on-going strategic planning with the FCB leadership team. Perform due diligence and create projections with different scenarios on growth opportunities as needed
• Prepare the annual financial budget and update the forecasts on a quarterly basis
• Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the departments’ goals and objectives
• Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, policies, and procedures
• Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
• Maintain the chart of accounts
• Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
• Provide financial analysis, as needed, for capital investments
• Assist management with important financial decisions
• Monitor a company’s financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs
• Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance
• Products the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration required
• Ten years or more of related experience
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times
• Able to travel as needed
