Foundation Communities is Hiring a Health Educator Near Austin, TX

Position Description: This role is integral to spreading awareness and education about COVID-19 vaccine efficacy, utilization, hesitancy, and linkage to resources. Representative of the clients we aim to reach, this person will engage in outreach efforts, document needs, and support overall vaccination efforts including onsite services, health fairs, and outreach events. This person will also conduct in-person and virtual classes in English and Spanish and will work closely with a graphic designer to create compelling and attractive outreach and informational materials. This role will also nurture relationships with internal staff and external partner organizations with the goal to increase vaccination rates for clients. This position is grant funded and will end May 2023.

Primary Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and deliver virtual and in-person health education and health programs with a focus on COVID-19 and vaccinations.
  • Develop and distribute compelling and attractive materials and implement marketing strategies for the promotion of COVID-19 and vaccinations.
  • Support implementation of evaluation strategies to monitor and evaluate vaccine information.
  • Have the emotional intelligence skillset to connect with vaccine-hesitant populations.
  • Review and evaluate vaccine education materials to determine appropriateness for specific audiences. Design materials and social media campaigns for specific audiences.
  • Translate, culturally and linguistically tailored communication, outreach and educational materials or arrange to be translated, small amounts of text as needed (for example flyers, forms and responses to short questionnaires).
  • Maintain and update overall tracking and measurement of project progress and effectiveness.
  • Form and maintain relationships with key partner organizations on direct COVID-19 vaccine outreach, resources, and/or educational sessions.
  • Support community locations for COVID-19 vaccines and hold mobile clinics.
  • Travel to other counties to provide outreach and education.

Minimum Requirements

  • Educational attainment in health education or health related-field with two years of health education experience, or five years health education experience with no educational attainment in health education or health related-field
  • Experience in developing health education programs
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Experience and success with social media and online platforms
  • Experience in incorporating diversity, equity and inclusion into health education programs
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate in multiple languages both written and verbal fluently (English, and Spanish, and/or Arabic, and/or Pashto)
  • Some evenings required

Preferred Requirements

  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Community Health Worker (CHW) credentials

Working Conditions

Work is mildly active in nature in requiring standing and walking for up to 30% of the time. Ability to work in all types of climate atmospheres (hot and cold temperatures) and wet environments, both inside and outside. Some work is performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Travel will be required to all Foundation Communities locations and outside the county for community outreach.

Physical Requirements

General office-based demands including remaining in the seated position with occasional standing and walking. Must be able to lift up to ~15 pounds at a time.

Compensation

$25.00/hour
