Job Summary: The Development Specialist performs duties related to fundraising, and grant writing. They will execute both community fundraising and grant writing to increase the capacity of FosterAdopt Connect Springfield. The development specialist will work with the Development Director to create and implement the fundraising strategies for FosterAdopt Connect in the Springfield Resource Center. The position will also be responsible for donor and grant research and tracking. 

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Assist with the implementation of the Springfield development plan that includes, but is not limited to: annual appeals, major donor identification, grant research and writing, corporate and individual appeals, social media, and special events. 
  • Work to establish annual grant calendar and responsible for all grant submissions for Springfield opportunities, under the leadership of the Development Director.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special events as directed by the Development Director. 
  • Assist with website management and social media content in collaboration with the Marketing Department at Headquarters. 
  • Grow social media avenues, focusing on visibility outreach and actionable engagement.
  • Assist with donor database management, updating all information in a timely and consistent manner. 
  • Generate donor acknowledgment letters and other donor communication language in conjunction with yearly development plan. 
  • Work collaboratively with Development Director and Marketing Department on creation of print materials, such as brochures, fliers, invitations, as related to Springfield region.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Previous grant writing experience
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to make presentations and speak to groups 
  • Knowledge and experience with data entry systems and reporting
  • Knowledge of social media tools
  • Experience using Canva, and graphic design skills
