Job Description

In this hands-on position you will be a key member of the software engineering team building our core cloud platform. Your responsibilities will range from designing large scale services that handle lifecycle management of applications (orchestration, containers, functions, etc.) to writing APIs that integrate with various cloud providers to evaluating and improving open source software used in our systems.

You will have ownership in key software feature areas and their architectural design as well as software implementation with a high level of independence and impact. You will design scalable distributed state management, on-demand cluster components, automation APIs and cloud infrastructure while working closely with team members and stakeholders. You will train and mentor other engineers.

• 10 years of experience designing, building, and operating distributed applications and systems
• Hands-on software development experience with TypeScript/JavaScript/NodeJS. Python and Golang are a plus
• Practical in-depth knowledge and experience with architecture and operations of Kubernetes platform.
• 3 years experience with public cloud technologies (AWS, GCE, etc)
• Familiar with Cloud Native application design patterns including deployment of container-based services and cloud infrastructures through automated capabilities
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code approach to systems management and related tools, (e.g. Git, Argo, Pulumi, Terraform, etc.),
• Working knowledge of Linux systems and networking
• Prior experience working with container technologies like Docker
• Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive
• Knowledge of Git-based workflow (e.g. github workflow, trunk-based workflow, code review process etc.)
• Experienced at or a strong interest in functional languages such as Clojure and Haskell
• Familiar with agile methodologies (Kanban, SCRUM, XP), modern software development environments as well as with DevOps practices
• Participation in an on-call rotation for production services
• Preferred but not required:
  • Experience with applying Kubernetes to use cases in the field of biotechnology
  • Working understanding of real-time applications, event sourcing and distributed state machines.
  • Good understanding of Identity-related technology. (i.e. OAuth, JWT)
