POSITION SUMMARY:

In support of Financial Systems, SG&A Departments and Consolidated Company performance, this position is responsible for a variety of financial activities including budgeting, forecasting, building financial models in support of strategic initiatives, ad hoc research and analysis, variance commentary and results narratives, presenting results to executive leadership, and providing decision support to executive leadership.

• Prepare the monthly business review discussions with executive leadership for individual product lines including variance analysis, narratives, slide preparation, publications, and development of risks and opportunities.
• Prepare the annual, quarterly, and monthly forecasting processes for individual product lines.

• Evaluate decisions and the impact on company profitability after providing decision support to Product Line decision makers. May include the following:

• Reporting - publish various models and analyses, dollarizing volumes, mass balance, and other activities of the cooperative in a manner usable by all levels of the organization and prepare recommendations on reporting and analyses that will improve company performance and visibility to activities.
• General Analysis - analyze the most profitable options for macro functions. Create tools for fact-based decision support. Summarize recommendations on one page with easy to follow visual and provide real time access to users
• Capital Projects - developing business case justification along with ROI and payback timeline
• Participate and understand decisions as it relates to profitability and review outcomes with Senior Director for evaluation

• Access – provide access to financial data to all levels of the organization in a secure and understandable format.

• Continuously develop, enhance, and implement tools and processes to efficiently drill into variances and accurately assess risks and opportunities.
• Improve financial performance by analyzing results, identifying trends, and making recommendations to management: including commercial and operational support (e.g., customer profitability and product mix impacts)
• Ad hoc modeling support: develop and present data driven models in support of strategic initiatives to executive leadership.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

The following are required competencies of the position that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:

• Computer Skills: Ability to operate all information technology related business systems, programs and applications in a manner that achieves efficiency, accuracy, and relevancy of information processing and reporting as it applies to this position. Proficiency in Excel required, familiarity with data query tools very helpful. Prior experience with Board financial software is a plus.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as dictated letters or memoranda, invoices, company policies and various documentation, paying particular attention to grammar. Ability to process routine reports and correspondences. Ability to communicate effectively with employees.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Other Skills & Abilities: Requires a strong financial analysis foundation of analytical skills including building models, online market research, forecasting and modeling. Must possess outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills. Strong people skills, ability to work at all levels and with a variety of backgrounds. Desire to learn and grow, with ability to demonstrate skills in critical reasoning and process design/development. Must have the ability to present large amounts of data in an executive-level format. Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines. Must have the ability to drive a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related quantitative/technical discipline and 3-5 years of job-related analytical experience.

The preferred education and experience would be an advanced degree such as MBA, CPA or related quantitative/technical discipline, knowledge related to the job and job-related experience in the dairy industry.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

There are no supervisory duties required but this role requires leadership skills and the ability to lead without authority.
