Forbes Books is Hiring a Graphic Designer Near Charleston, SC

Advantage|ForbesBooks has an exciting opportunity for a Graphic Designer with experience in marketing and book design. Advantage works with top tier business professionals to position, promote, and market them as the thought leader and expert in their industry, community, or marketplace.

The mission of the Graphic Designer is to work with Advantage | Forbes Books’ Production team to develop and design book covers and interiors for a wide variety of clients. In addition to this role, the designer will also create marketing deliverables in an effort to expand the company’s reach and improve its standing in the public space. You must be a highly creative, innovative designer capable of producing visually stunning work. You must also be comfortable working on a project in every stage, from conception to production and also be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously. 

Expected Outcomes

  • Design book covers, interior layouts, and ebooks.
  • Work with the Advantage|ForbesBooks’ Marketing team on various print-based marketing collateral, including brochures, sell sheets, magazines, and event promotions. 
  • Design and update marketing collateral for other brands within the Advantage Media Group family, including mLive and others as needed.

Preferred Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or related major
  • Minimum of three years graphic design working experience
  • Thorough understanding of graphic design, design principles, layout, composition, and color
  • A ‘No Job is Too Small’ attitude. Be willing to not only develop concepts from scratch, but make updates to templates and other pre-design materials. 
  • Mastery of skills with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Detailed knowledge and technical proficiency with offset printing and pre-press requirements

Candidates will be required to show a portfolio, demonstrating relevant experience and skills.

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment and may also be remote working in a home office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position is a three day in office / two day remote position with high end equipment.

  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and telephone. Near visual acuity is required in order to work with computers. 
  • May occasionally require the employee to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Employee should be able to sit for an extended period of time.
  • Employee may be occasionally required to perform light to moderate lifting of office supplies, up to 20 pounds.
