Focus on the Family is Hiring a Creative Designer 1 Near Colorado Springs, CO
The Creative Designer 1 position exists to support the in-house creative team at Focus on the Family. Creative Designer 1 produces brand-aligned creative from existing art direction from creative teammates. As the in-house creative team operates cross departmentally, a Creative Designer 1 will interact with clients during meetings with grace and humility. This position invests in the team through candid feedback on all creative disciplines. The role requires organization, communication, creative skills, the ability to manage projects and deadlines, and operates with the oversight of the Design Manager and Creative Designer 3. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Leverages art direction to produce collateral such as digital/social/print ads, small flyers, and brochures Revises work based on client/team feedback Packages and uploads completed projects for final delivery Meets with internal clients during kick-offs and reviews Tracks time and posts work for review Reviews and provides feedback on the work of creative teammates Other Duties/Responsibilities: Performs other duties, including but not limited to duties as assigned, some of which may include the development and creation of a variety of copyrightable works (e.g., print, photography, voice work, film, music, visual arts, etc.) for distribution in any and all media and formats (such as television, radio, internet, DVD, satellite and digital) on a world-wide basis, all of which shall be for the benefit of Focus on the Family Participates in creative activities and ideation Assists in overall department initiatives such as integration, annual departmental planning, creative training, branding exercises, research, etc. Working Environment/Physical Requirements: Fast-paced office environment with constantly shifting priorities Physical presence at the Colorado Springs campus Balance the tension of managing legacy initiatives, then switching gears to support new opportunities with very tight deadlines JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Character/Spiritual: Exemplifies Ephesians 5:1-2, “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children and walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us...” Pursues the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Focus; adheres to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith; upholds Focus on the Family's ministry in prayer Prays personally for Focus on the Family’s staff and constituents and may occasionally lead in a public prayer Engages in Christian ministry Demonstrates behaviors aligned with FOF core values Personal Characteristics: Lives with integrity derived from Biblical values and demonstrates standards of conduct that meet or exceed company and/or legal requirements Ability to handle stress associated with changing priorities and multiple tasks Team-oriented and responsive The capability to be self-directed, efficient, and dependable Open to candid project and developmental feedback Aptitude for learning new systems and processes Creative and forward-thinking Working toward separating creative work from personal identity Knowledge/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Art or other related major or equivalent experience 1 year of experience preferred, but not required Demonstrable creativity and graphic design skills with a solid portfolio Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Software Familiar with prepress techniques and file preparation Knowledge and understanding of unique pixel resolutions required for print and online Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts: Committed to skill growth and professional development Strong sense of layout, typography, form, color, imagery, and composition Able to work well independently, as well as under the direction of others - coachable, valuing constructive criticism from a variety of sources Demonstrated ability to quickly comprehend visual design requirements Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Pay Range: $24.00 to $27.50/hr.
