What Will you be Tasked With?
  • Works closely with billing and intake personnel in verifying and establishing authorization(s)/reauthorization(s) prior to providing services.
  • Acts as a liaison among personnel, client/client’s family members and physicians when necessary.
  • Maintains a close personal, business-like relationship with the medical community and other health related entities.
  • Advises the Controller/Executive Director on current events, problems and agency operations on a daily or as needed basis.
  • Gathers information and develops summaries as requested. Compiles reports from database and existing records.
  • Faxes, submits electronic requests or places and answers telephone calls to payers according to authorization(s)/reauthorization(s) needs.
  • Responsible for the claim audit, prior to releasing claim for billing.
  • Assists other staff as requested.
  • Attends meetings as assigned and reports on actions.
  • Participates in educational activities and programs.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • The jobholder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position.
Environmental Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Work may require hand dexterity for office machine operation, stooping and bending to files and supplies, mobility to complete errands, or sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent contact with staff and the public. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate degree in business administration or secretarial program.
  • Minimum of three years of administrative experience including one year with a health care organization.
  • Typing ability of 60 wpm and word processing experience.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree
