Job Description

Flyspace Productions is looking for a Human Resource Intern to join our team in our downtown office. The HR Intern(s) will have the opportunity to learn more about all aspects of Human Resources including onboarding, talent tracking, payroll, insurance and worker's compensation, recruiting, policy making, and leave. They will be responsible for various functions of the Human Resource department, including talent, compensation, benefits, leave, reporting, and administration of company policies.
 

The ideal person for this position is seeking to expand their experience and knowledge in the HR field, and is seeking a degree in this or a related field. This person will work directly with the HR Director, Office Administrator, and General Manager and will interface with director level staff and Principals from time to time. They will report to the HR Director.

To be a competent HR team member, you should be patient and compassionate, have excellent listening skills, be organized and methodical, and be able to multitask effectively. 

 

This is a paid internship position. We expect the candidate to be available for 10-20 hours per week during business hours, consistent with any credit internship requirements, for the length of one semester with the opportunity to expand to additional semesters. The intern(s) will receive a stipend of $12 per hour in addition to credit hours.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with employee training and orientation
  • Research and assist with developing company policies and procedures
  • Assist with staff training and continuing education programs
  • Assist with the onboarding process: ordering background clearances, checking references when needed, collecting new hire paperwork, enrolling employees in benefits, etc.
  • Perform basic duties to update database tracking systems for new hires and existing employees
  • Assist with a weekly payroll, training to understand the process from start to finish
  • Assist with Worker’s Compensation and Unemployment Compensation claims
  • Assist in the recruiting process
  • Update Covid and Sick Time Off tracking as required
  • Perform other projects and assignments as required, geared towards cultivating an understanding of a working HR and Payroll department

 

Requirements: 

  • Working towards or recently completed education in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field required
  • Strong ability to multitask and remain calm in emergencies
  • Superb conflict resolution skills 
  • Ability to display integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times
  • Willingness to learn and desire to expand professional knowledge
  • Reliable transportation to downtown offices and ability to arrive on time
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • All employees are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and additional clearances may be required
