Taylor Technologies is known worldwide as a leader in the manufacturing of chemicals and test kits for monitoring water quality. We offer nearly 600 different test-kit configurations, including options for wet-chemistry and dry-chemistry methods, along with microprocessor-based instruments.

Established as W. A. Taylor & Company in 1930 in Baltimore, the business was incorporated as Taylor Chemicals in 1967. In 1980 the present generation of ownership acquired the business and dedicated themselves to expanding the company’s reach to all areas of water analysis. The name was changed to Taylor Technologies in 1986, to not only reflect, but demonstrate, that magnified vision.

The market for our products is quite simple: Wherever water quality is monitored. This includes pool and spa maintenance, industrial water treatment (e.g., boiler and cooling systems), commercial and residential water conditioning, beverage production, food processing, and municipal wastewater and water treatment.

We are looking to add a Chemist to our team!

Position Summary:

The Chemist will work on the design and development of new analytical products and improvements to existing products, techniques, and methodologies. Performs material and product improvement tests. Develops formulas, processes, or methods for solution to technical problems as needed. Performs laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical properties of substances. Analyzes test data and writes resulting reports. The Chemist will be responsible for completing projects as defined and on-time. The Chemist will also be responsible for working with customers and other departments to support the successful rollout of new products.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of analytical test standard solutions
• Preparation of analytical reference standards
• Maintaining a laboratory notebook
• Performing analytical experiments and recording and analyzing corresponding data
• Operation of analytical instruments
• Maintaining a safe working environment
• Designing and developing new wet and dry analytical methodologies, techniques, and products for monitoring water quality
• Revising or modifying existing products, techniques, and methodologies under the supervision of the Manager of Research & Development
• Maintaining detailed records of all work performed in an approved laboratory notebook.
• Assist other departments (Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, etc.) with technical matters
• Explain and/or answer technical questions
• Assist with customer questions and/or problems
• Review and approve technical articles to be printed
• Provide technical support at trade shows, when needed

Qualifications:

• BS degree in Chemistry
• 2 years related lab experience
• Proficiency in volumetric, colorimetric, and spectrophotometric analysis
• Extensive knowledge of analytical principles and techniques
• Skilled in the principles and operation of analytical apparatus and instrumentation
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative water quality analyses
• Demonstrate good laboratory technique
• Innovative thinker
