ABOUT THE JOB:
Flexsys is seeking a US-based Cost Accountant expecting the candidate to possess extensive knowledge of Record-to- Report cycle and accounting policies in a manufacturing environment. The cost accountant will report to the Global Leader Ops Finance and support the product costing, manufacturing analysis, and inventory evaluation activities. The overall controllership function is supported by a third-party provider; however, Flexsys will stand up and migrate to an independent model. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for working with the current third-party provider and internal reporting team to support business decisions by analyzing data and providing managers with insightful costing information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The candidate should be well versed in general accounting, month-end close process, and external and internal audit, and possess a thorough understanding of GAAP, SOX, and how it applies to the Company. The candidate should be proficient in cost accounting, budgeting, modeling, and standard accounting practices; in addition:
• Assist in analyzing and preparing inventory obsolescence reserves; work closely with quality to recommend inventory adjustments.
• Assist in setting up new raw material, packaging, WIP, and Finished goods items. Collect cost information and maintain expenses database
• Prepare analysis of actual manufacturing costs and report variances from standard costs
• Prepare actual vs. budget and other financial analyses related to manufacturing costs and inventory.
• Execute profit/loss variance analysis, find the root cause for cost abnormality, and work with related parties to find a resolution
• Create and maintain production BOMs and assist in maintaining period cost rolls/updates.
• Ensure that reconciliations and financial reports accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization
• Weekly/ Monthly reporting to management on departmental spending, gross margins, and inventory variations.
• Perform monthly financial close activities, including accurate reporting and accounting of overhead expenses & allocations, labor, inventory, expense queries, and cost of goods sold
• Perform general ledger (GL) review and complete cost variance explanation reports to forecast, budget, and prior periods
• Recommend new accounting procedures to improve cash flow and make it easier to understand and itemize expense reports
• Conduct research to identify and recommend cost-effective solutions
• Build Annual Plan and Quarterly Forecast for all manufacturing location
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:
• Experience in SAP execution and implementation
• In-depth knowledge of financial guidelines and regulations
• Strong understanding of GAAP
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills to anticipate and proactively recommend solutions
• Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
• Excellent communication skills: the ability to negotiate and influence decision-making and communicate effectively with senior management on progress, issues, and resolutions
• Ability to perform risk and security assessments
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of staff and management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance (preferred) or commensurate experience
• Five-seven years of experience in Accounting or Financial Reporting
• At least two years of budgeting & forecasting experience
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
• English as a primary language
