The position of Fragrance Laboratory Technician I is to work closely with the Perfumers compounding fragrance samples to fill active customer requests and to compound fragrances for the fragrance library.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Understand how to operate basic lab equipment
• Foundational understanding of raw materials used in formulations
• Basic quality control ability for scent verification and quality validation
• Compound fragrances for sampling to customers
• Compound fragrances for our fragrance library
• May help making fragrance prototypes in the applications lab
• Smelling strips and participate in panels for evaluation
• Preparation of sample for QC when is needed
• Monitor raw material stock levels and freshness in your lab station.
• Responsible to learn and follow safe work practices in the lab
• Responsible for clean, tidy laboratory work area
• Learn Specs to backup
• Weekly reporting to lab supervisor or manager
• Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of six (6) months lab experience as a student or employee
• A minimum of one (1) year of trade school or college beyond high school. Preferably science oriented.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must be able to write reports clearly and coherently in English with supporting data and detail as required. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Computer Skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

Operate basic computer applications.

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to stand and smell, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
