Hours: 6pm-6:15am 7 days on / 7 days off Thursday-Wednesday Base Wage: $17.18/hr $0.75 night shift premium = $17.93/hr Guaranteed 40 hours on 3 day week (Mon-Wed) Medical Benefits start date of hire. 401k at 200% company match. Job Summary: Perform the following functions, tasks, and procedures associated with the Quality Lab Technician responsibilities of the QA department. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Perform the following in Microbiology as required by company standards: Sample Management, Reagent Preparation, set up, read and interpret results, Micro Survey Sites and Sampling, Inventory, Data Entry, Quality. Microbiology reports. Shelf life studies. RTC recap/assessment. Coordinate validation studies. Trend Analysis. Lab Equipment PM Service coordinator. Conduct preoperational and operational inspections on process equipment, process areas of operation, and all associated areas and/or items. Document as required. Perform all HACCP program related tasks. These include but are not limited to the following: (1) Critical Control Point auditing, monitoring, verifying, and documentation. (2) Completing, reviewing, and filing of all associated documentation. (3) Conducting HACCP related system and equipment calibrations/verifications. (4) Maintain an acceptable knowledge level of the FITCO HACCP plans and all supporting programs. Maintain an acceptable knowledge level of all aspects of the production process. Demonstrate the ability to work and communicate effectively across departmental lines. Have and maintain the ability to work in extreme temperature conditions in either high or confined areas for extended periods of time. Complete multi-task assignments. Must cross-train to learn all the Laboratory roles including HACCP, Chemistry and Microbiology. Demonstrate the ability to perform tasks assigned through verbal or written directives, as well as, describe or explain actions or situations verbally and in writing. Maintain an effective working relationship with the USDA. Perform all lab analysis including special projects. Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of all laboratory equipment. Participation in the check sample program. Maintain library and special samples; send out samples as requested, and make samples for customers as requested. Maintain an acceptable knowledge of laboratory functions and how these relate to and support daily operations. Must have a working knowledge of the FITCO Laboratory Database and be able to enter data accurately, and in a timely manner. Willing to work any shift and any task required to assure laboratory and production monitoring coverage for the facility. Be willing to work alternate schedule, overtime, and holidays as needed. Assist with or perform additional tasks as directed. Adhere to FITCO Quality Assurance department policies and procedures. Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team. General housekeeping to include: washing dishes, maintain a clean and safe work area, putting away supplies that come in. Computer data entry for the assistance of production, i.e. SPC, Certificates of Analysis, correlations or any graphs or charts requested by management. Strive for continuous improvement everyday by: recognizing opportunities and problems, diagnosing problems, finding solutions, implementing solutions, making sure solutions work, repeating these steps. Function as support system to the production staff. Perform any and all tasks necessary to maintain a good safe product. All other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: College degree in Microbiology, Biology, Poultry Science, Food Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology preferred. If there are no candidates that meet this requirement, candidates with the following education and/or experience will be considered in the following descending order: candidates currently enrolled in college and working towards a BS degree in Microbiology, or Food Science/Technology with hours exceeding an Associates Degree. Math, computer and problem solving skills. Ability to read and interpret procedures, data and graphs. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to satisfactorily complete job sample. Must have ability to work independently and without supervision. Seeks out new assignments and completes tasks in a timely manner without being asked. Looks for ways to improve quality, not only in Q.A. department, but in every aspect of our business. Shows eagerness to do a good job, is a team participant, and can accept change. Is safety conscious and has a good safety record. Actively participates in department and company safety program.
