JOB TITLE: CREDIT ANALYST

DEPARTMENT: Lending

REPORTS TO: Senior Commercial Lender

SUPERVISES: No supervisory responsibility

CLASSIFICATION: 

SUMMARY: 

The Credit Analyst is responsible for analyzing credit and underwriting financial reports to determine risk involved in lending money or extending credit. Analyze current credit data and financial statements of individuals or firms to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Prepare reports with this credit information for use in decision-making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Review financial information and analyze the credit worthiness of loan originations and renewal by spreading company and personal financial statements into Bank’s software for loan review. Prepare written documentation and present it for approval and weekly Officer Loan Committee (OLC) meetings. 

· Evaluate financial statements, historical trends, projections, management performance, industry, cash flow, capital structure and collateral analysis. 

· Evaluate customer records and recommend payment plans based on earnings, savings data, payment history, and purchase activity.

· Complete loan requests, including credit analyses and summaries of loan requests, and submit to loan committees for approval.

· Generate financial ratios, using computer programs, to evaluate a customers’ financial status

· Compare liquidity, profitability, and credit histories of individual or company being evaluated with similar establishments to determine risk.

· Manage files and records and transactions and other office procedures.

· Complete loan applications, including credit analyses and summaries of loan requests, and submit to loan committees for approval.

· Review individual or commercial customer files to identify and select delinquent accounts for review.

· Provide reports and information to management as structured.

· Monitor compliance requirements and help to assure procedures comply with standards. 

· Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Preferred candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance; and/or equivalent experience working with commercial credit. 

· Must exhibit high level of assistance, reliability and self-motivation. 

· Possess the ability to work with a variety of personnel, customers and businesses. 

· Excellent typing and clerical skills along with numerical aptitude required. 

· Excellent organization, follow-through skills necessary. 

· Working knowledge of computers and software, i.e., Word, Excel is necessary, and along with knowledge of Bank software. Use of general office equipment necessary. 

· Must be or become a Notary. 

· Professionalism must be exhibited and confidentiality respected at all times.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Business Degree with minimum of one year general accounting; ability to use or working knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Word.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Position may require individual to perform repetitive motion in operating equipment such as keyboard, calculator or other bank/office-related machinery. While performing duties the employee may have to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Position requirements may be, but are not limited to, walking, standing, sitting, bending, talking, hearing and communicating. The physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

· Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured required if driving.

· Position requires attendance at meetings.
