The Team You’ll Work With …

As the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist, you will work directly with our talented Safety team to author and optimize our safety program for the factory. The EH&S Specialist will support our teammates in the areas of compliance, training, documentation, auditing, root cause analysis, industrial hygiene, PPE designation, and incident investigations. In this role, you will take ownership of key safety activities that positively impact the employee culture; elevating data reporting, being a big player in helping to improve existing programs, and designing new initiatives. This role reports to the Safety Manager and is located on-site in Spokane, Wa. The pay range for this role is $45,000-55,000.

The Problems You’ll Solve …

We are in need of an EH&S Specialist who can connect with our teammates through multiple channels including e-mail, phone, and in-person. In this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Oversight of the incidents, communicating to L&I, medical providers, and the Safety Manager
  • Leverage your inner techy, to ensure data entry and reporting is done with sensitivity to confidential information, integrity, and security
  • Apply your eagle eye for detail to issues and come up with innovative solutions
  • Use solid business judgment and exceptional communication skills to be the first point of contact in addressing inquiries as well as triaging issues to other members of the Safety Team
  • Optimize operational processes and services with a focus on workplace safety and environmental priority
  • Lean into your exceptional communication skills to document, maintain and interpret core Safety Operations processes as well as compliance with stakeholders, managers, and teammates
  • Handle logistics that support the deployment of safety training and development initiatives
  • Plan events from start to finish according to requirements, target audience, and objectives
  • Show up with expert multi-tasking skills enabling you to balance urgency and thoroughness
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with legal requirements pertinent to the day-to-day obligations
  • Drive employer brand consistency across company communications
  • Track and report on established KPIs
  • Serve as a Fireclay Tile Brand Ambassador, representing our core values including:

About You …

You are an empathetic, kind, and patient person; you are socially conscious, creative, and innovative. Your goal as Environmental Health & Safety Specialist goal will be to ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations to maintain that Fireclay Tile is creating a safe work environment for all employees within the organization. You are comfortable working in a collaborative environment but can operate independently and use data to make decisions. You focus on providing a best-in-class employee experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational, Health & Safety Sciences 
  • Years of experience: 4 years of safety, complemented by 1 years of professional or emergency response work experience ideally in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have demonstrated success in a multi-tasking environment and have solid time management skills to execute tasks/projects
  • Proficient in using Asana, Google Apps, and Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel is highly desirable
