Description

Position Summary

Create, modify, and test the code, forms, and script that allow computer applications to run. Work from specifications drawn up by software developers or other individuals. May assist software developers by analyzing user needs and designing software solutions. May develop and write computer programs to store, locate, and retrieve specific documents, data, and information.

Essential Function and Responsibilities

The Computer Programmer will develop computer software applications in a variety of coding languages such as SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, API’s, and others. This includes, but is not limited to:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Creates and modifies computer programs based on project specifications in a secure manner.
  • Collaborates with department heads, managers, and other stakeholders to fully understand the tasks that must be accomplished by the software requested.
  • Designs, or assists with design of, graphical user interface (GUI) as needed.
  • Collaborates with systems analyst to obtain and analyze project specifications and flow charts.
  • Develops a flow chart of data input and potential problems that could emerge in a given environment; creates contingencies within the program for these possibilities, including error messages or alternate data flows.
  • Tests programs; coordinates and observes beta testing of new or updated programs.
  • Debugs or corrects any issues discovered during beta testing.
  • Issues stable release.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and revises programs as needed to increase operating efficiency or adapt program to new requirements.
  • Develops and maintains documentation of program development and revisions.
  • Provides training to end users.
  • Must comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations including Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Asset Controls.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of computer programming languages, which may include SQL, JavaScript, NodeJS, HTML, CSS, XML, .NET, VB Scripts, C , and others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to predict potential user and software issues.
  • Ability to create complex code.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Skills and Abilities

  • Must have working knowledge of computer hardware and software and working knowledge of Windows server OS. Working knowledge of object-oriented programming and security principles applicable to the Internet and web-based applications is also required.
  • Proficiency in Visual Studio and Git Repositories is also required.
  • Symitar Episys PowerOn experience is preferred.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Thorough understanding of computer programming languages, which may include SQL, JavaScript, NodeJS, HTML, CSS, XML, .NET, VB Scripts, C , and others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to predict potential user and software issues.
  • Ability to create complex code.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Programming or related field required.
  • At least one year of related work experience required.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Understanding and knowledge of Excel formulas

Reasoning Abilities

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and understand abstract and concrete variables.

Certifications, Licenses

  • C , C Certifications and/or similar certifications highly preferred.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Internal annual compliance testing required

  • The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, or to write. Regularly required to communicate with members, and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
  • Time is spent in sitting, standing, and walking from place to place within the credit union’s facility. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
