Job Summary 
 
As Senior Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for inventory and costing accounting, preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. An ideal candidate is detail-oriented, good with numbers, has strong written and oral communication, and is highly self-motivated. 

Key Responsibilities

• Inventory and Cost Accounting 
• Work closely with internal manufacturing, warehouse, and planning teams to report on inventory positions and costing or resolve discrepancies
• Update standard costs in ERP system
• Reconcile monthly absorption and create reporting to explain manufacturing variances in a given period
• Calculate and maintain inventory reserves
• Balance inventory subledger to financial statements and accurately correcting variances
• Projects may include implementing variable costing, implementing cycle counting, assessing absorption write off processes, Power BI report creation
• Focus on assessing existing processes and implementing improvements
• Period End Close 
• Focus on monthly inventory and cost accounting
• Growth opportunities to take on additional accounting activities such as Fixed Assets, Cash, Sales Reconciliations, Prepaid Amortization, etc.
• Responsible for preparing complex account reconciliations and analyses on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis. 
• Responsibilities may also include reviewing staff accountants' reconciliations/processes
• Financial Reporting and Ad Hoc Analysis
  • Budget to actual variance analysis
  • Inventory, Cost Accounting, and Manufacturing Analysis
  • Expense account drill downs
• Work with other team members to compile and distribute financial reports including but not limited to:
• Coaching and Development
• Responsible for training and reviewing the work of the staff accountants or shared service clerks (AR and AP). This includes answering questions and providing constructive feedback on a timely basis, as well as delegating work so the staff feels challenged and ready for growth opportunities when they are available. 

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• 3 -5 Years in Corporate or Public Accounting (CPA preferred)
• Bachelors in Accounting / Finance (Masters preferred)

Key Hard Skills 

• ERP/MRP experience, Microsoft Dynamics AX proficiency -preferred
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel proficiency - required

    • Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000
    • Compensation negotiated based on previous experience & qualifications
