Full Job Description – Field Service Mechanic

Position Description: 

The Field Service Mechanic will be responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of company fleet vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment. The Diesel Mechanic will assist the Shop Manager in these duties. He/she will perform the repair of heavy equipment and vehicles while maintaining a clean and safe work area. This position will require a high attention to detail and possess the ability to work with minimal supervision. 

Position Responsibilities: 

• Inspect, maintain, and repair fuel systems 

• Perform engine repairs and maintenance 

• Maintain and repair turbocharger 

• Perform safety inspections 

• Inspect, maintain, and repair transmission systems 

• Make necessary repairs to hydraulic and air brakes 

• Repair and maintain HVAC systems 

• Make electrical repairs 

• Perform oil changes as needed 

• Maintain a clean work area, tools, and equipment 

Position Qualifications: 

• At least 2 years of experience in auto and equipment repair 

• Experience with heavy diesel repair and maintenance 

• Experience with hydraulic and electrical repairs 

• Knowledge of fuel systems; both diesel and gas 

• Ability to perform electrical diagnostic using a scanner 

• Welding Experience 

• Experience with Ford 6.7 Diesel and GM 6.6 Duramax (Preferred) 

• Safety Inspection certified (Preferred) 

• Class A CDL (Highly Preferred) 

Working Conditions: 

This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including; extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The outside work environment will vary throughout the day including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings. This position may occasionally be exposed to natural gas and to the risk of electrical shock. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels. 

Physical Requirements: 

The employee will need to have the ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching and feeling, crouching, and crawling. The employee will need to be able to regularly lift 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
