The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the accounting of a portfolio of properties and ensures that the financial statements for their portfolio are completed timely and accurately in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. This includes, but not limited to, the detailed review of monthly, quarterly, annual financial statements and related reports, review and reconciliation of general ledger accounts and bank reconciliations, review of daily transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal and external policies, and other projects as assigned. Qualifications: 5 years of relevant Accounting experience Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles Proficient with Microsoft Office applications Yardi experience is preferred Real estate industry experience is preferred Ability to act and work with a high level of self-motivation, ability to multi-task, and thrive in a deadline-oriented environment Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Education: Bachelor's degree CPA designation is a plus Responsibilities: Facilitate and complete monthly and year-end close procedures Prepare financial statements and reporting packages as required by lenders and investors Prepare monthly bank and account reconciliations Assist with financial audits including preparation of audit work papers with supporting documentation as required by external auditors Analyze various accounts to ensure accurate reporting Prepare annual budgets as required by investors Prepare journal entries and roll-forward schedules Prepare and process cash flow distributions to investors Prepare sales and use tax forms as required Work collaboratively with onsite property personnel in review of property status and make adjustments as needed Other projects as assigned
