Works closely with scenic shop management to build necessary props and structures to scale that comply with specified designs in the shop construction drawings. 

Essential Functions

• Mechanical knowledge & aptitude involving carpentry, fabrication and metal work.
• Responsible for reading all shop drawings that call for the use of wood materials to build a specific shape and has a professional level working knowledge for the use of a variety of materials as called out in the designer’s specs.
• Constructs and finishes scenic elements based on shop drawing & Designer specifications using various wood & metal working techniques

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 5-10 years minimum scenic or finish carpentry experience required.
• Experience with wood working tools including but not limited to slide table saw, joiner, planer, edge bander, line boring machine, etc.

• Ability to provide logical solutions to problems and interpret information conveyed from supervisors.
• Ability to calculate figures and apply theories of basic algebra, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportion to practical solutions.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Experience with laminates, veneer, joinery, spray adhesives, assembling casework is desired.
