DESCRIPTION OF EMPLOYER: Founded in 1901, Feeser’s, Inc. is a family owned and operated full-line foodservice distributor located in Harrisburg, PA servicing the Mid-Atlantic region. Feeser’s provides an expansive offering of dry, refrigerated, and frozen products to a diverse customer base comprised of restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, and other institutions.

SUMMARY: The ideal Yard Jock / Switcher will work closely with the Feeser’s transportation and operations team, to provide exemplary customer service in our Harrisburg, PA location. This position is critical in ensuring that the Feeser’s. Inbound and Outbound docks have an adequate supply and constant flow of loaded and empty trailers that are positioned safely, accurately, and efficiently. The successful candidate will have some experience in yard operations with an emphasis on switching or driving experience. Driving will involve 80% jockey and 20% on the road. This is a night shift starting between 3pm and 6pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•A valid CDL Class A License or military equivalent experience is required.

•Safely move company trailers within and between Feeser’s facilities, to include both loads and empties for the Inbound and Outbound docks.

•Work with transportation and operations teams to prioritize tasks.

•Accurately report equipment statuses and productivity information to the Transportation or Operations Coordinators.

•Carry out regular spot checks of the yard vehicles and reporting on damaged or inoperable equipment.

•Ensure switcher equipment is in safe working order to include pre/post-trip inspections, tire condition, and unit hours reporting.

•Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays if needed.

•Perform for other duties as assigned.

•Adhere to quality and performance standards.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

•A safety driven mindset.

•A valid commercial driver's license or military equivalent experience.

•Successfully passing Feeser's driving and knowledge proficiency tests.

•Maintenance of Feeser's internal certification for driving and knowledge proficiency.

•Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

PHYSICAL / COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

•The ability to repeatedly climb in and out of a truck to connect and disconnect airlines, move trailers, and conduct periodic spot checks of the yard with or without accommodation.

•Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up-to to 75 lbs., and lift safely and repetitively with or without accommodations.

•Effectively operate independently with minimal supervision.

•Effectively communicate via two-way radio.

•Ability to handle multiple tasks at once.

•Work in a fast-paced distribution environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

•1 to 3 years relevant switcher operating / driving / warehouse / distribution / military experience related to transportation equipment operations.

•A valid CDL Class A License or military equivalent experience.

•A high level of comfort with backing and operating heavy machinery.
