Job Title: Social Media Specialist

Job Summary:

We are looking for a social media-savvy individual who can help take public perception of our government customer, 1st Cavalry Division, to the next level. If you are a creative social media specialist, we want to hear from you!

The social media manager will support public outreach, include understanding the goals of the Public Affairs/Marketing team, optimizing copy to tell the 1st Cavalry Division story, and reporting on social media activity.

The ideal candidate will have experience in social media management and strategy.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing strategies that utilize social media platforms to deliver the marketing goals of the 1st Cavalry Division; creating content plans in support of those strategies; managing a high volume of daily social media posts.
  • Writing excellent, target audience-relevant content
  • Researching and selecting images or videos to complement text
  • Coordinating with the PA/Marketing team to develop custom images and video when needed
  • Being supportive and responsive in a crisis situation
  • Providing advice and guidance to the Public Affairs team
  • Promoting the 1st Cav brand by corresponding with constituents on social media networks, in a timely and polite manner
  • Responding to comments and direct messages
  • Amplifying key messages from other FHTX units to assist in their brand perception goals
  • Using relevant content techniques, increase awareness, readership, followers, and traffic to the platforms
  • Tracking social media activity as requested, analyzing data, and generating reports
  • Converting marketing ideas into hashtags, blogs, or longer posts for different social media networks

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • A favorable National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) investigation OR a valid Secret clearance
  • At least 2 years of social media experience, including planning and managing content in a corporate or agency setting
  • Thorough understanding of social media management and strategy
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills
  • Working knowledge of analytics tools, such as Sprinklr, Google Analytics, and Meta Insights
  • The ability to create original content with images or videos using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • An ability to be a team player
  • The ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Desired:

  • Experience with SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive

Work Setting and Environment:

  • Monday - Friday, normal business hours
  • Work is to be performed at 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters, Building 28000, Battalion Ave., Fort Hood, Texas
  • On-site federal contractors, in federal buildings or on federal lands must comply with CDC guidelines with respect to wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and other public health measures
