Overview As the Software Engineering Manager, you will report to a Senior Manager and lead agile delivery teams and be accountable for the delivery of mission critical applications. Responsibilities Partner with our Engineering, Product, and Security Organizations providing expertise with the implementation of technology solutions that follow the defined roadmap and standards. Lead a dynamic and diverse team(s) of approximately 10 software engineers, consultants, and testers as they bring important software applications from concept to delivery. Create opportunities for innovation and experimentation where teams can explore new industry standards and technologies. Use quantitative measures to gauge team performance and partner with the teams, scrum masters, and agile coaches to experiment with techniques that support a culture of continual improvement. Advise Product Owners and Product Managers on technical priorities to ensure technology currency and to support system modernizations. Advocate for technology, tool, and policy changes that support our ability to delivery software to our clients. Research, understand, and help implement software development best practices to automate and improve the delivery cycle as much as possible. Observe team health and provide hiring, training, rotation, and administrative recommendations to help grow high performing teams. Coach and mentor employees on professional development. Work together to create curated development plans that help employees grow as technologists and IT professionals. Requirements Bachelor's degree, with a major or specialized courses in Engineering, Computer Science or MIS or commensurate experience. 5 years the area of IT Leadership, including responsibility for engineering and delivery of a complex application(s). Strong experience leading teams using Agile methodologies. Strong ability to guide & coach other developers in development best practices. Builds strong partnerships with business, operations, engineering, security, and other important partner groups. Broad technology experience with any Objected Oriented Programing language or Cloud Native technologies. Experience with engineering practices focused on cloud computing, DevOps, development pipeline orchestration, or software development desired. Knowledge of secure coding practices, RESTful web services and test-driven development. Industry-related certifications or degrees in application development/methodology, process, agile methodologies, or cloud development desired. Process and assess complex procedures, practices, and policies. Provide performance feedback and career planning with staff. Travel up to15%. US Citizenship Required. Candidates with less experience may be considered at a lower job grade or salary.
