JOB DESCRIPTION FOX is looking for a Sous Chef to join our team in Los Angeles. The Sous Chef will provide the highest quality culinary experience for our clients and guests. You will be primarily responsible for operations relating to News Cafe. Job duties include, but are not limited to, development and oversight of the strategic vision and standards of quality set for the department. Duties also include responsible financial management, effective leadership and communication skills, excellence in customer service standards and supervision of department requirements and standards. A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Accountable for ensuring all aspects of the kitchen including, but not limited to, training, supervision of direct reports, execution of all menu items, ordering, proper storage, organization and inventory of all products, training and implementation of all sanitation procedures as directed by the Executive Sous Chef, and adhere to all State and Local Health Department rules and regulations Assist Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef with developing menu items, menu mix, and standardized recipes while managing food and labor costs as well as assisting the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef upon request with any departmental initiates Additional duties as assigned that may be outside the normal scope of duties based on business needs WHAT YOU WILL NEED 3-5 years minimum experience in a similar position Previous experience with creating schedules, labor costing, payroll administration, employee performance management Comprehension of English oral and written language and ability to work off Recipes and Prep Lists that are posted Expertise in food product, presentation, quality, and preparation along with menu concept and menu design Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities, strong organizational Be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, focus attention on guest needs, and remaining calm and courteous at all times Available to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks Be physically able to lift and carry heavy trays and equipment up to 50 lbs and physically able to walk without assistance on various surfaces for an extended period of time Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER High school diploma and/or certificate/diploma from an accredited culinary program or equivalent work experience We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
