Accounts Payable Specialist
Job Summary
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for monitoring the outflow of capital for the company. This individual should conduct their work with outstanding attention to detail and high level of accuracy and be comfortable working to established deadlines during the financial period. This individual should work well within a team-like atmosphere, communicate effectively and be able to interact daily with company personnel, managers, and vendors.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Checks and obtains approval for all vouchers for payment.
- Analyze and research voucher pricing and quantity discrepancies.
- Answers all vendor and employee expense inquiries.
- Analyzes vendor accounts, runs checks, and issues remittance emails.
- Prints all accounts payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files.
- Assists in monthly closings.
- Assists with accounts receivable and special projects, as necessary.
- Assists with monthly G/L reconciliations.
- Review all AP coding for accuracy before creating AP payments
- Create and present the monthly sales and use tax for approval
- Monitor new vendor files for all payment and tax documentation
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to deal appropriately with confidential information and to demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
- Attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Capability to solve practical problems and reconciliations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Accounting Software.
- General understanding of GAAP and proper internal controls.
Education and Experience
- Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant coursework preferred
- Six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
