Description

A Planner, who under general direction, uses DRP and MRP plans and specifications to produce detailed schedules, material requirements lists, and ordering plans for the distribution of products. Controls stock levels and inventory movements to satisfy customer requirements. Maintains and adheres to inventory policies with respect to lead times, safety stocks, order patterns, and customer fill rates. Works with Manufacturing, Distribution, and Transportation Managers to arrange product movement in the most efficient and effective method. Prepares and analyzes reports for Operations, Transportation, and Production schedules. Uses root cause analysis to find solutions to issues and exhibits continuous improvement mindset to bring new ideas to current processes.

• Plan the Distribution Center to Distribution Center transfers of inventory with the goal of lower transportation and warehouse handling cost, lower inventory obsolesces expense, and achieving a 98.5% or higher rate.
• Establish inventory policies for optimization of lead times, safety stock, turns, and order quantities.
• Place orders using order minimums and multiples (pallet layers and full pallets) to create efficient order quantities for picking, shipping and receiving.
• Responsible for maintaining DC and manufacturing Inventory levels based on ERP messages. Must understand safety stocks, order minimums, order multiples, lead-times, and other planning data for all Distribution Centers.
• Manage the short shelf life inventory at DC’s and transfer inventory to DC’s with demand.
• Manage orders to maximize the cube utilization on the weekly warehouse delivery schedules to minimize transportation cost.
• Interact with Production Managers, DC Managers, Transportation, Sales, and Marketing on inventory availability.
• Produce daily, weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports that are used to run the planning function.
• Design and produces daily, weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports as required.
• Document and standardizes processes in planning group.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of principles of planning and inventory management.
• Knowledge of mathematical and statistical data analysis.
• JDE familiarity a plus.
