Family Services is Hiring an Environmental & Facilities Technician II Near Poughkeepsie, NY

Title: Environmental & Facilities Technician II

Compensation: $17.39 per hour, 35 hours per week 

Supervisor: Facilities Manager

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 2 years of experience in office building maintenance
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of light building maintenance repairs for structures, furnishings, and equipment in addition to safe work practices
  • Possession of a valid, clean NYS driver’s license
  • Must have the ability to plan and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work effectively under pressure
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to work effectively with employees, supervisors, clients

Function:

  • Building and facilities maintenance 
  • Occasional evening and weekends required

Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning of bathrooms daily. Mopping, stripping, and waxing of floors throughout the building.
  • Complete work orders as required
    • Keep track of open orders
    • As completed, input into tracking system
    • Review completed work orders with supervisor
  • Maintain physical condition of premises.
    • Trash collection and disposal
    • Other tasks as assigned
  • Grounds keeping tasks including, but not limited to:
    • Mowing
    • Trimming and pruning trees
    • Shoveling walkways in the winter to keep clear of ice and snow.
  • Clean and assist in the cleaning of emergency and non-emergency spills.
  • Review status of building and property on daily basis for potential hazards or building maintenance issues
  • Loading and unloading of delivery trucks
  • Assist with preparation for special events; including but not limited to:
    • Setting up tables and chairs
    • Podium
    • Assisting with lighting and sound equipment
    • Special cleaning and maintenance during event
    • Breakdown after event is concluded
  • Complete daily report forms
  • Maintain cleaning supply inventory
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, walk, and routinely negotiate ladders and stairs for entire workday
  • Must be able to frequently carry/lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds, and less frequently up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Must have thorough knowledge of safety procedures including but not limited to, safe lifting practices (i.e. build a bridge) PP&E requirements and knowledge of guidelines when working with hazardous chemicals.
