Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Peer Support Specialist is responsible for mentoring individuals diagnosed with mental illness to develop personal and meaningful independent living goals that will help fully integrate them into their local communities. The Peer Support Specialists will assist these individuals in developing the skills to better manage their psychiatric symptoms, maintain stability, and move forward in recovery.

Peer Support Specialists will support individuals receiving services in transitioning from one setting to another (“bridging”). As such, they must be able to utilize experiential knowledge of mental health and mental health services to serve as role models and coach others to enhance their self-confidence, self-responsibility, personal growth, and independence.
