job purpose: The sanitation technicianwill work alone or with a team but collaborate extensively with other department staff to ensure that food safety and workspace cleanliness are being implemented.

responsibilities:

  • The Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the general shared workspaces and auxiliary areas to establish a clean environment for producing and packaging quality products
  • Ensures equipment and facility are effectively sanitized in accordance with established food manufacturing regulations and in compliance with government sanitation requirements
  • Clean and sanitize walls, ceilings and floors while utilizing cleaning chemicals and sanitizers as directed or required
  • Follow all sanitation and quality policies and procedures, including lock out tag out, and report any deficiencies
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Perform start-up, safety, quality, production and equipment checks and document results throughout the work day
  • Perform sanitary equipment maintenance as per the preventative maintenance schedule or when directed by the supervisor
  • Restock and replenish supplies as appropriate
  • Maintain sanitation logs
  • Follows all applicable GMP's for the area in which he/she is assigned
  • Maintains and uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Other duties as assigned

skills/qualifications required:

  • 18 years or older
  • Pass the drug test and pass the background check
  • A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • Team-oriented and self-directed
  • Experience with high-speed production lines (fast-paced production environment)

working conditions and physical requirements:

  • General understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment.
  • Ability to make decisions based on standard practices.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Basic understanding of sanitation processes and related equipment.
  • Ability to run sanitation equipment.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and communicate safety labels on chemical containers.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed with little or no notice.
  • Create and maintain an efficient, hygienic, and positive working environment
  • Promote health and safety in the workplace
  • Display excellent work ethic, resourcefulness, and organization.
  • Display positive leadership
  • Be proficient in English

Sanitation Technicians spend almost all their time on their feet and moving. Additionally, they may find themselves using ladders to reach high areas. Sanitation Workers must be able to control high-pressure hoses, lift heavy containers of chemicals, and empty trash receptacles around production. They could be expected to lift loads of 50 pounds or more in a single motion.

food safety requirements:

  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
