Software Engineer – Tester

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Software Engineer-Tester will focus on verifying developed software meets the specified requirements and produces the desired result(s), ensuring any defects are identified and documented. The tester should have polished skills in building test cases based on - use case development methodologies and knowledge/experience in automated testing.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer with significant experience in software and software system testing, automated testing suites, and automated build/deployment tools. They must be at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision. This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
2. 3-5 years of related software testing experience
3. Experience with test-driven development as part of an Agile team
4. Experience using a test automation framework
5. Experience with use of an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for development and execution of test scripts
6. Experience with managing testing for multiple applications during the concurrent development cycles
7. Experience with Regression, Integration, API, or Functional testing
8. Experience developing and managing test plans and cases
Requirements
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
1. Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
2. Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Demonstrated experience in:
a. JIRA/Confluence/SharePoint
b. Working in a Team Environment
c. Briefing Technical Topics to a Non-Technical Audience
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop, perform, and support manual and automated integration and regression testing
2. Perform and support post deployment validation of components
3. Develop and maintain test plans and scripts to identify software problems and causes
4. Provide analysis and recommendation for automation of test suites
5. Develop automated scripts to decrease the time needed to perform testing
6. Develop automated scripts to decrease the likelihood of bugs or unplanned outages
7. Work with applications in a cloud environment
8. Work side by side with project teams on a daily basis to consult with the development and operations teams to test applications
9. Work in a team environment with contractors from multiple companies
10. Participate in formal and informal reviews at pre-determined points throughout the development cycle
11. Participate as a member of the agile development team
12. Write test cases and scenarios
13. Develop and execute test plans, procedures and scenarios for regression, process, functional, systems integration and Agile (deliverable) acceptance testing to ensure new applications and software modifications meet requirements and perform satisfactorily in the systems environments
14. Document the successes and failures of all executed test procedures
