Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides support to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) with patient care. Their duties focus on administering care through maintaining patient hygiene, feeding patients, and monitoring patient vitals. The Certified Nursing Assistant reports to the supervisor on duty and provides flexible supportive care to patients.

Responsibilities

The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) by feeding, bathing, dressing, ambulating, and positioning as necessary.
  • Monitors patient condition by checking vital signs, height, and weight.
  • Collects and tests specimens.
  • Records intake and output information.
  • Provides patient comfort by answering patient call bells and fulfilling requests.
  • Observes, assesses, and documents physical and mental condition of patient and reports changes to nursing supervisor.
  • Assists nurses with admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
  • Supports nurses with administering treatments and rehabilitative care.
  • Provides post mortem care.
  • Follows the facility's policies and procedures.
  • Documents actions in accordance with facility record keeping standards.
  • Observes Resident Rights and keeps patient information confidential.

Requirements

  • Successfully complete a state-approved nurses aide-training program.
  • Must have current certification and registration with the Indiana State Department of Health.
  • Must be proficient in English.
  • Be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.
  • Current BLS/CPR training with card
